Project 39: Matte black and oak handleless kitchen with a waterfall island
A handleless kitchen in matte black with natural oak slab uppers, a marble-look waterfall island with an oak bar ledge and four leather stools, a full-height marble-look backsplash, slim brass pendants, a matte black faucet and lighting in the toe-kicks and under every upper.
About this kitchen
Everything at and below counter height is matte black and handleless — the doors and drawers open from integrated channels, so the runs read as unbroken black planes. The uppers are natural oak slab, lit from below, with a marble-look quartz slab running the full height of the wall behind the cooktop.
The island is black too, under a white marble-look top that turns down one end in a waterfall. An oak ledge is set into the counter side at bar height, so four tan leather stools pull up to wood rather than stone, with three slim brass pendants above.
Lighting is part of the design: LED strips in the toe-kicks float the black cabinets off the pale oak floor, and under-cabinet lighting washes the backsplash. The faucet is matte black, and the windows are black-framed to match.
