A bold color kitchen in Maplewood: Fabuwood Galaxy shaker doors in Cabernet Red, an eleven-foot Shiloh Hanover island in walnut with a Rye stain and seating for six, white quartz with mitered edges and brass throughout, under a tray ceiling.
About this kitchen
Not every kitchen has to be white. The owners brought a wallpaper sample with a red thread in it, and we matched it to Fabuwood's Cabernet Red on the Galaxy shaker door — a deep red that reads almost oxblood in evening light and warm red in daylight. Galaxy is Fabuwood's classic five-piece shaker, so the color sits in a crisp square frame.
The island is Shiloh's Hanover door in walnut with a Rye stain, eleven feet long, with saddle-leather stools on both sides and a prep sink — a second line on purpose, because the stained walnut needed a species Fabuwood does not offer. The counters are white quartz with a thick mitered edge so the red and the walnut each get a clean break.
Floating shelves in the same walnut frame the wallpaper wall; the 48-inch range and the full-height refrigerator are set in tall red surrounds. Two brands, one kitchen — priced line by line at the Paramus showroom.
