Custom thin-shaker kitchen in Salt of the Earth, Oakhurst
A custom thin-shaker kitchen in the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township: Tafisa's Salt of the Earth textured laminate on every door, a waterfall island that seats five, a full-height pantry wall, a coffee bar with floating shelves, and a matching wall-hung vanity in the bath.
About this kitchen
The homeowners wanted the warmth of wood without the price of veneer, and a door that read modern without going full slab. We drew a thin-shaker profile — a narrow frame around a flat center panel — and had it built custom in Tafisa's Salt of the Earth, a textured laminate with a driftwood grain that runs vertically on every door and drawer front.
The island is the center of the room: a beige stone top that turns down the end in a mitered waterfall, with five seats along the back. The range wall gets a flat-panel hood in a lighter finish and a glazed subway tile that runs the full height of the sink wall, around a bank of black-framed windows.
Storage moved to a full-height pantry wall with integrated pulls, and a coffee bar sits off the kitchen with floating shelves in the same material. The bath repeats the door on a wall-hung vanity under a vein-cut slab, so the whole house reads as one design.
