Shiloh vs Eclipse Cabinetry: Same Plant, Same Doors, Different Box
Eclipse is Shiloh's frameless line — same company, same door styles, same paints and stains, built on a full-access box instead of a face frame. Customers who have already chosen the look still have to choose the construction, and the difference is bigger than it sounds: wider drawers, a flatter front, different interiors, and a set of engineered slab fronts that only Eclipse offers. We carry both; this is the comparison we give in the showroom.

What they share
Both are built by W. W. Wood Products in Dudley, Missouri — Shiloh since 1977, Eclipse since 2013. Both take all forty Shiloh door styles in nine species, the twenty-two standard paints and any Sherwin-Williams colour, glazes, highlights and the hand-distressed finishes. Both use Blum CLIP top BLUMOTION hinges and Blum TANDEM undermount guides with soft-close, and both carry a ten-year limited warranty. A painted Scottsdale shaker in Repose Gray looks the same in either line until you open a door.

Framed: the traditional cabinet, and the only way to inset
Shiloh's face frame does two things. It stiffens the box so the cabinet can carry heavy inset doors, and it gives the front a visible frame around every door — the look of a traditional or transitional kitchen, with reveals you can adjust at installation. If you want inset, beaded inset or a kitchen that reads as furniture, Shiloh is the only one of the two that does it. The trade-off is the frame itself: an inch and a half of width lost at every opening, and drawers that are narrower than the cabinet.
Frameless: the modern box, wider drawers, engineered fronts
Eclipse drops the frame. Doors and drawer fronts cover the ¾-inch box almost completely, the reveals are an eighth of an inch or less, and every drawer is as wide as the cabinet allows — about ten percent more storage in the same footprint. The interior is finished laminate because you see it every time a door opens. And Eclipse's Metropolitan slab door brings the surfaces a wood line cannot: high-gloss and matte acrylic, high-pressure laminate, textured wood-look laminate, reconstituted white oak and walnut veneer. For a true European look — flat, handleless, gloss or textured — Eclipse is the line. See the frameless cabinets page for the other frameless lines on our floor.
Installation
Framed cabinets forgive an old house: the frame hides small misalignments and the reveals can be tuned. Frameless cabinets need the walls and floor corrected first and the boxes set dead level, because an eighth-inch reveal shows an eighth-inch error. Our crew installs both every week and prices the prep with the cabinets; see how we install.
How to choose
- Inset or a visible frame: Shiloh.
- Slab doors, gloss or textured fronts, handleless: Eclipse.
- Maximum drawer width in a small kitchen: Eclipse.
- A painted shaker that could go either way: look at the two displays side by side in the showroom with the doors open — the interiors and the reveals decide it for most people.
- A plywood box above all: Shiloh standard; Eclipse with the plywood upgrade where the species allows.
Bottom line
Same doors, same finishes, same plant, same warranty — so the choice is the box. Shiloh for frame, inset and tradition; Eclipse for frameless, wider drawers and engineered modern fronts. Both are in full displays in our showrooms; a designer will draw your kitchen in either. Catalogues: Shiloh · Eclipse.
