Gray kitchen cabinets in New Jersey — from Dove to charcoal
Grey is the second colour in most of the kitchens we install — a Dove perimeter under a Timber island, a Seagull island under Polar walls, a Repose Gray inset kitchen. Every grey below is on a sample door in the showroom, from stocked Fabuwood Dove and 21st Century Sterling to any Sherwin-Williams grey on Shiloh.
The greys that work in New Jersey light
Grey shifts with the light more than any other cabinet colour: a cool grey goes blue under north light and a warm grey goes beige under warm LEDs. The greys that keep showing up in our installed kitchens are the soft, slightly warm ones — Fabuwood Dove above all, which is why eight of the kitchens below are Dove — and the greiges: Shiloh Repose Gray and Mindful Gray, Adornus Perfect Greige and Light French Gray, Kith Haze. Charcoal and slate (Shiloh Slate Tile and Outer Space, Fabuwood Graphite, Adornus Gale Force and Web Gray, 21st Century Wildwood) read as a near-black and belong on an island or a bar wall.

What grey pairs with
Warm wood is the easiest answer — the Cranford Dove and Timber kitchen, the Livingston quartzite kitchen and the Oradell Galaxy kitchen all put a Timber-stained island or accent under Dove walls. Black works as the second colour too: the fluted Pitch Black island in Cranford. White quartz with soft veining keeps a grey kitchen bright; a heavily veined slab makes it moody.
