Two-tone kitchen cabinets in New Jersey — paint on the walls, wood or colour on the island
Most of the kitchens we install are two-tone: a painted perimeter with a stained island, a white kitchen with a navy or black island, black bases under oak uppers. Every line on our floor can do it in one order, in one lead time. The kitchens below are real New Jersey homes; each page lists the exact doors and finishes.
The pairings that keep working
- White walls, wood island. The most-installed combination in New Jersey: Polar inset with rift white oak in Chatham, Petit White with Petit Oak in Cranford, white shaker with a natural oak island in Montclair.
- Grey walls, Timber island. Fabuwood's Dove and Timber in Cranford, Oradell and Livingston.
- White walls, colour island. Navy, black, Evergreen Fog.
- Dark bases, light uppers. Black shaker under natural oak; stained bases under white slab uppers.
- Two lines in one kitchen. The Maplewood kitchen pairs Fabuwood Galaxy in Cabernet Red with a Shiloh Hanover walnut island — we order both, deliver both and install both.
How to split the colours
The rule that holds up: the darker or warmer colour goes low (island, bases, bar), the lighter colour goes high, and the hood matches one of them. Keep hardware consistent across both — brass on white and oak, black on grey and Timber — and let the countertop be the bridge: a white quartz with warm veining ties oak to white; a black marble-look slab ties a stained base to a white upper. The two-tone guide goes through the combinations in detail; your designer shows the pairings in 3D before you order.
Two tones in one line
Every line we carry paints and stains in the same order: Fabuwood's Signature stains (Timber, Natural Oak, Desert Oak, Kona) beside its paints; Shiloh's nine species beside twenty-two paints and any Sherwin-Williams colour; Adornus Designer's twenty paints beside White Oak; Forevermark's Petit Oak beside Petit White. Mixing two lines, as in Maplewood, is also routine — the estimate just has two cabinet sections.
