About Crystal
Crystal Cabinet Works has been a family-owned custom cabinet maker in Princeton, Minnesota since 1947, when Tom Hammer started it in his garage; today it is one of the largest custom cabinet manufacturers in the country and still sells only through independent dealers. Two tiers: Affordable Custom — Current (framed full overlay), Current Inset and Frameless Current — and Premium Custom — Keyline (framed) and Encore (frameless), with premium species such as walnut, rift-cut and quarter-sawn white oak and premium alder. Eighty door styles from shakers and slabs to arched raised panels and mullion doors, in alder, cherry, hickory, maple, red oak, white oak and walnut plus paint-grade material, MDF, engineered veneers, textured melamine and laminate slab programs; forty paints, thirty hand-applied stains, glazes, cerused, wire-brushed, rub-thru and distressed finishes with an oven-cured catalyzed conversion varnish top coat. Limited lifetime warranty. With Plain & Fancy, it is the highest price level we carry.
Why we carry it
Crystal gives us a second fully custom shop with a different look from Plain & Fancy — more contemporary doors, a broader species list, a frameless program and slab materials — at the same top price level, so a custom kitchen can be drawn around the room rather than the catalogue.
