About Plain & Fancy
Plain & Fancy has built custom cabinetry by hand since 1968 — founded by John and Loretta Achey and their four children in Richland, in its Schaefferstown plant since 1984, run by George "Butch" Achey since 1998 and part of Fabuwood since 2024. Every cabinet and door is built and finished individually: mortise-and-tenon frames, dovetailed drawers, hand-sanded parts, hand-applied colour on a Cefla finishing line. Flush, beaded and square inset; full and partial overlay; framed and European frameless construction; 66 door styles from the Vogue shaker to leather, metal and Shinnoki fronts; 25 standard paints, 30 stains across cherry, maple, walnut, alder and rift-cut white oak, and custom colour matching. Orders complete in about 8–10 weeks; the Richland line ships Shaker, Newport and Quaker in as fast as 8 weeks. With Crystal, it is the highest price level we carry.
Why we carry it
Plain & Fancy is where we send the kitchens that cannot be built from a catalogue: inset with furniture ends and custom-matched paint, a pantry wall drawn to the inch, a species we cannot get elsewhere. It is our top price level with Crystal, and it looks it.
