Pantry cabinets in New Jersey — tall pantries, walk-ins and butler's pantries
Pantry storage is the first thing customers ask for and the easiest to get wrong. A tall pantry cabinet with roll-out trays, a pull-out pantry beside the refrigerator, a walk-in lined with shelving in the kitchen's finish, or a butler's pantry with a counter and a second sink — the Chatham kitchen has a black butler's pantry with glass uppers and a beverage centre; the Livingston kitchen adds a pantry run in the same finish.
Four kinds of pantry
- Tall pantry cabinet. 84, 90 or 96 inches high, 24 inches deep, in 18- to 36-inch widths, with adjustable shelves or roll-out trays behind the doors. Every line we carry has one; the roll-outs are the upgrade worth having.
- Pull-out pantry. A 9- to 18-inch tall cabinet whose whole interior slides out on full-extension glides — the answer for the slot beside the refrigerator.
- Walk-in pantry. A closet lined with the kitchen's cabinets or open shelving on finished panels, with a counter for small appliances and an outlet strip. We draw it with the kitchen so the finish and the hardware match.
- Butler's pantry. A pass-through between the kitchen and the dining room with a counter, uppers with glass, a second sink or a beverage centre — the Chatham butler's pantry in black with glass uppers and a beverage centre is the model.
Tall cabinets as the pantry wall
A run of tall cabinets — pantry, refrigerator surround, wall ovens — is how the South Orange Imperio kitchen and the Livingston quartzite kitchen get their storage without a walk-in: one wall, floor to ceiling, in the same door. Standard tall-cabinet sizes are on the cabinet sizes guide.
Pantry interiors
Roll-out trays at 6 inches deep for cans and 10 inches for appliances, a pull-out spice rack, a tray divider for sheet pans, a bread drawer, and lighting on a door switch — every one is an insert that goes into a standard cabinet, priced as a line on the estimate. The Oradell kitchen and the Livingston kitchen show pantry and bar runs drawn into the main order.
