Flush, beaded, square-beaded, modern

Flush inset is the plain version: door and frame in one plane, a reveal of about an eighth of an inch, exposed hinges optional. Beaded inset adds a small rounded bead to the inside edge of the frame — the traditional, Colonial detail. Square-beaded squares that bead off for a transitional room. Shiloh's modern flush inset pairs the construction with slab and slim-shaker doors: the Westfield kitchen is modern flush inset in Malibu with a reeded Evergreen Fog island. What inset costs and needs

Inset is a step up in price from overlay in the same line, because each door is fitted to its opening and the frame is heavier; it is still far below a custom shop when it comes from Shiloh. It needs square, level installation — reveals are set to the sixteenth, which is why our own crew installs it — and a house kept at normal humidity so the wood doors stay even in the frame.
